Munich has an array of amazing sites, museums, festivals, historical buildings and much more. Take a stroll by yourself around the sites or join a tour for a more organized approach! Munich is a green city with numerous parks so bring a picnic along for an afternoon retreat with the family of a loved one.

Perhaps a stroll to the The Englischer Garten would be ideal for you. It is close to the city centre and covering an area of 3.7 km² (larger than Central Park in New York), is one of the world's largest urban public parks and contains jogging tracks and bridle-paths. Take a hike or play a round of golf on one of Munich's fine golf courses.

Another area of interest for tourists is the Marienplatz. This is a pedestrian zone and is probably the most popular single area of the city for tourists. From the incredible New City Hall (see below), to a myriad of shops, cafes, and street performers, this is where you should start. After this you might like to take a look at the Schloss Nymphenburg. This was the summer palace of the former royal family of Bavaria. Only a small portion of the palace itself is open to tourists, but the enormous gardens are free, except the minor palaces in the gardens.

Munich is also renowned for its spectacular nightlife! Whether you are a party person or rather prefer a couple of drinks in a relaxed bar - Munich has something to offer for everyone. Of course like in any other city the hip locations change all the time. But there are a couple of places that have been popular for a long time now or are just classics of Munich's night life. The legendary nightclub in Prinzregentenstraße 1 started as a club of US-American army  officers and is now the number one nightclub in Munich.

The rich and the beautiful, stars  and starlets party here - and the lucky ones who, despite being none of the above, manage to  get past the bouncers. Or try A huge new night club for over 20s: a total of 4,004 square metres with several rooms each with different music styles, from house to salsa. Open on Fridays and Saturdays and every night before a bank holiday from 9pm.

A day out shopping is also on the cards. If you fancy the shopping more you will be pleased to know that munich has shops by national chains for basics, as well as independent shops and boutiques for more unique purchases. Sometimes malls and shopping centers are the most convenient options but definitely check out downtown for some unusual gifts! The Auer Dult is a market and is held three times a year on the square around Mariahilf church and is one of Munich's oldest markets, well known for its hardware, tat and antiques.
